The goverment didn’t keep it secret, the guy who recorded the footage had kept it secret and handed it out a week before he died :)

mike – WOW, was that amazing!
if they had footage like that in dallas 1963, we would know EXACTLY what happened! we could also prove conclusively the existence of the loch ness monster and bigfoot!
good thing our government kept this footage secret all these years!

I was in 7th grade and home sick from school that day. I lived in Daytona Beach, about 60 miles north of Cape Canaveral, and went in the front yard to watch.
I ran back into the house to tell my grandfather that something went wrong and we turned on the TV.

I was teaching Fifth Grade then in Green Bay, WI, and had my class in the library watching the shuttle launch, and this disaster unfolded before our eyes. I had absolutely no clue what to say after that.
