I have no idea if these guys are any good or not, but this is the best example of a design agency site I’ve seen in a long time. It’s clean, extremely readable, very well-written, friendly, free of fluff and hyperbole, and contains clear calls to action. If you own your own agency and are trying to drum up work, you could learn a lot from how these guys present themselves. (via CSS Beauty)

As to why so few agencies have finely wrought (let alone conceived) websites… that’s a mystery above my pay grade

Certainly not bad, but it’s got a few problems IMO. I know “above the fold” is totally overrated in web design, but in this case there seems to be an extreme amount of screen space devoted only to the title and logo at the top. I’m rocking a typical 1440×900 MBP and the actual content starts 2/3 down the page. I’d hate to be a 1024×768 user.

Speaking of which: prepare to have your mind slightly ruptured when resizing your browser window.

I’m also not a fan of the blurred paper airplane at the bottom left, which clings to the frame border unnecessarily. A pretty typical graphic design “don’t” right there.

Nothing against the agency, which might be rad-sauce (though I’m always wary of “custom CMS” offerings). But I’ve seen better.

I always pimp http://www.hugeinc.com as my favorite example of a web design agency.

How the Big 12 came back to life:

This is one of the best investigative sports articles I’ve ever read. Really, really fascinating. If you care at all about college football, you must read it. Two really interesting things I learned: Colorado really screwed themselves, and ESPN pretty much screwed the Pac-10.

We just launched msnbc.com’s new photoblog today. It’s pretty hot and it’s not even full featured yet. Peep it.

iPhone App Development: The Missing Manual:

How Much Do Music Artists Earn Online? A great infographic showing how the digital distribution of music has sucked artists’ royalties almost completely dry. People have argued they were never healthy to begin with, but the difference here is major. The same is going to happen to every meatspace product that transitions to digital. The iPad isn’t going to save content royalties.

If ever anyone had a look that screamed “potential air guitar champion”, it is Rob Weychert. Watch him tear it up in the 2010 Air Guitar World Championships. I am proud to say this man has slept on my couch.

Snap Groups: Mark Fletcher's new project:

When Mark Fletcher creates a product, it’s usually transformative and awesome. Bloglines, for instance, changed my life. SnapGroups, his latest project, just launched today. It’s too early to tell how successful it will be, but given who is behind it, it’s something to keep an eye on.
